Success Stories
The Graham Residence
Ms. Barbara Graham was a longtime friend, colleague, and mentor to students and staff at the former State-run school. Upon her passing, she named the school in her will and committed a significant donation toward the long-term success of the students she cared about so deeply. In 2010, when the renovations to the dormitory began, it was strictly because of the money she left that the school was able to complete the renovations.
In her honor, the dormitory was named “The Graham Residence.”
Bike-Aid 2010
A 150-mile bike ride proved to be worth it for ten riders after enough money was raised to purchase a new van for students at The Scranton School. Friends of both the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf and The Scranton School joined up to ride their bikes from Pittsburgh, Pa. to Cumberland, Md. In doing so, they not only gained an appreciation for large bicycle seats but their efforts and sacrifice were rewarded by the funds they raised.
