SSDHHC is pleased to announce a job opening -Full-time Director of Development and Marketing for NE and Central Pennsylvania. This position will report to the Superintendent. The Director of Development and Marketing's duties and functions include: With the Superintendent and Marketing/Development Committee, develop annual and long term goals for NE and Central PA; serve as managing editor of “Bear Tracks”, the newsletter of SSDHHC; plan and offer at least one special event in both NE and Central PA; to maintain a thorough list of all available grants that would be applicable to the mission of the school; prepare all grant applications and conduct all necessary follow-up once grants are submitted; to write and submit in a timely fashion all reports required by grant making institutions; to cultivate new, and maintain existing, relationships with donors; to represent WPSD/SSDHHC at appropriate community events; to coordinate capital campaigns; develop and maintain database for NE and Central PA; to provide support and assistance to the Harrisburg Golf Tournament; plan and conduct an annual appeal; become an active member of the community by joining local and statewide service and professional organizations; prepare press releases and public relations materials as needed; develop relationships with media outlets; to assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
Clearnaces: PA State Police Criminal Clearance (Act 34), PA Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), and FBI Clearance.
Specialized training, Education or Experience: Must have Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of development experience. CFRE credential, or in the process of acquiring, is highly desirable. S/He should have proven track record in fundraising, with emphasis in grant writing, donor solicitation and planned giving. Excellent writing and communication skills are required as well as computer literacy especially in database management and knowledge of fundraising software. Experience working in an educational environment and experience with or knowledge of deafness and deaf education is strongly preferred. The Sign Language Proficiency Interview level for this position is “Intermediate”. The minimum level accepted at hire is “No Functional Skills.”
